Housed within Citi's Global Marketing Team, the Consumer Social Media SVP is the owner of all of Citi's @Citibank social handles across Facebook/Instagram, and X – formerly known as Twitter. This position is a key member of the leadership team, responsible for managing our internal Consumer Social Center of Excellence. This leader, in partnership with the SVP of Global Social Media Governance, will be responsible for evolving and communicating across the org, Citi's consumer social guidelines and processes, while ensuring strict adherence to all protocols. This is a critical role, responsible for the Paid/Owned/Earned ecosystem of Citi's Consumer Social Media handles, particularly in the US. This position is also responsible for vetting and evaluating any new Social Media platforms for Citi applicability, including but not limited to vetting for Brand Safety, Reputational Risk, as well as Controls & Risk. It is highly focused on best practice development, controls and processes, landscape evolution, and consumer behavior to ensure that Citi is at the forefront of the constantly rapidly changing Social Media landscape. Successful candidate will have established themselves as an expert in this industry, able to command the respect of the various Citi stakeholder's individual will need to partner with, and will have developed strong communication and diplomacy skills – to help guide, influence, persuade, and hold others accountable, in particular colleagues in the US region and our agency partners.
Primary responsibilities include:
- Lead the Social Media practice, and advance the team's work through development of a refreshed Social Strategy, in line with Citi's mission and goals and objectives
- Co-partner with SVP of Social Governance on protecting Citi from any/all forms of harm – digital, social, reputational, as well as information security, by working directly with social media platforms to take down fraudulent accounts (as an example)
- Be a key point person for our Corp Comms colleagues in monitoring and responding to any/all reputational risk within the social sphere
- Educate and influence our Legal & Compliance teams, partnering with them to establish group & firmwide risk & controls (alongside GMT Ops team)
- Partner with the Head of AdTech in co-owning Brand Safety within social media platforms, by developing guidelines and procedures for Paid Media investment
- Lead media agency from briefing to campaign execution for paid media support
- Take a proactive stance in expanding Citi's Social Media footprint by taking charge of collaborating with Legal, Compliance and Privacy teams when evaluating and vetting new platforms
- Manage all Social Media vendor relationships
- In partnership with brand standards, formalize Citi's approach on how we show up in consumer social (including but not limited to; tone of voice, visual ID)
- Provide Thought Leadership to entire Citi org by staying abreast of social media trends, rapidly changing technologies, and burgeoning new platforms as the preeminent resident expert for the group
- In charge of vetting Influencers for the firm (social, celebrity/talent etc.), establishing processes for submissions and managing SOW with agency
- Provide guidance and counsel to our marketing colleagues, HR, and other constituents on best practices for content development and distribution across internal and external channels; including ensuring adherence to ADA requirements
- Set the standard for content publishing and spearhead monthly meetings with stakeholders on curating and evaluating content for such distribution
- In charge of Citi's Social Community Management, responsible for establishing the rules of engagement on designated platforms - starting conversations, responding to comments etc., while providing oversight of staff
- Own & develop the interaction model for how we engage with teams across Citi and agency partners for overall social strategy, content creation (including editorial and creative direction), as well as paid media campaign development
- Manage end-to-end data and analytics for social performance and reporting (across Paid/Owned/Earned), setting the standard for insight development and cadence of shareouts
- Fiscal management of team budget & finances, ensuring every $ is accounted for, tracked, and invoices processed timely, in accordance with our financial guidelines
- Ensure team has all social records, compliance documentation, and platform terms & services updated and retained for annual audit readiness
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Marketing or related field required
- Minimum 10 years' experience within Social Media and/or content marketing, whether in-house or Agency environment
- Expertise in Social Platforms, Community Management, and Channel Governance
- Ambidextrous skill set – Expert in both Paid Social Media + Owned (creative asset development)
- Working knowledge of other digital paid media (online video, digital publishers, audio etc.), beyond social media properties
- Solid experience managing direct staff, growing and developing talent
- Prior experience interacting with legal, compliance and business stakeholders
- Must be process-oriented and highly organized. Proven track record of implementing multi-step marketing processes, inclusive of stakeholder approvals, support, and communication
- Delivery of high-quality work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment
- Effective team player with proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Strong communications (written, verbal and interpersonal) skills, including tact and diplomacy
