Leader of high-drive performance marketing ideology and implementation within the media team at Big Lots. Concept and produce high-performing media strategies with provable results, increasing value among known critical audiences while identifying and extracting value from brand new audiences to forward our business objectives. Defines and implements market and national-level media testing strategies and enterprise media measurement strategies to prove incrementality of media. Crafts compelling and insight-rich stories for audiences up, down and across the organization through data, effectively bringing together the art and science of performance media. Manages external communication with our media agency, coordinates and collaborates with internal partners.
- Champion growth, maturity, innovation and results-driven performance marketing strategies at Big Lots.
- Lead creation of investment strategy and media plan in collaboration with media agency to deliver measurable results against key business objectives, and oversee weekly pacing, flighting and budgeting by channel.
- Apply deep experience and expertise in the dynamics of Paid Search, Paid Social, DSP based programmatic media and Connected TV to ensure delivery of maximized media results across audiences, channels and mediums.
- Develop and implement enterprise level media campaign tagging strategy in partnership with Ecommerce team to track audience and campaign performance and derive valuable consumer journey insights.
- Own media plan learnings and grow aggregate knowledge about our target audiences and digital media channels to develop robust library of expertise and grow our test/learn agenda over time.
- Knit well-crafted stories through data from disparate sources to articulate the performance of our media plans, the multi-faceted benefits our media brings to the organization at large and derive sharable knowledge and insights about our high-value audience segments.
- Design and implement market-level and nationwide media tests to uncover optimally effective media mix, messaging and weighting.
- Work in partnership with the Marketing and Creative teams to plan appropriate audience communication and channel activation, drafting off key business priorities (e.g., new consumer acquisition campaigns, loyalty campaigns, product launches, financial offerings & targeted/mass coupons) to ensure a holistic and considered messaging strategy aligned to the media strategy.
- Work in partnership with the Loyalty/CRM team & external digital agency to plan targeted, hypothesis-based campaigns to uncover the best distribution of ads & weights of spend across digital channels; partner with CRM team to oversee successful delivery of consumer data and audience segments to media agency as needed.
- Work closely with the Creative team to ensure all messaging/assets are error-free & optimized against our targets, including A/B testing plans for all relevant campaigns to optimize messaging / offers / CTAs.
- Maintain deep knowledge about media trends, technologies, platforms and innovation, and share information and inspiration regularly with internal partners.
- Serve as key day-to-day contact for external digital agency partners in media plan development, execution, optimization and measurement.
- Passionate team player and coach responsible for professional development of direct report(s).
Qualification
- Bachelor's degree or higher in Business, Marketing or related field.
- 8 years of digital marketing experience, demonstrable experience leading performance marketing leading digital, biddable, and programmatic media planning, buying and reporting across search, CTV/OTT, display, video, social, and native channels; 3+ years of team management experience required.
- A proven track record of building successful, high-ROI media campaigns across various digital and performance channels that leverage all layers of data available in today's marketing ecosystem.
- Familiarity with AdTech and Martech landscape, leading players and their capabilities.
- Demonstrated ability to build new capabilities and influence within an organization.
- Strong organizational and prioritization skills with high attention to detail - ability to multi-task and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment while managing capacity of direct report.
- Strong analytical capabilities - proven ability to turn complex and disparate data into cohesive and cogent narratives for audiences up, down and across the organization.
- Ability to build & maintain solid working relationships with business partners & other team members.
- Ambitious self-starter with an entrepreneurial spirit who is a problem-solver and delivers consistently excellent results.
- Desire to shape initiatives 'from scratch' vs. be handed a defined playbook.
- Retail and/or agency experience is preferred.
