Job Description:
We are looking for a proactive, energetic, and skilled lead to join our growing US Customer Data Enablement team under Strategic Insights and Prioritization. This individual will help us deliver the measurement and analytics/ad-tech solutions needed to drive paid media insight and fuel digital growth for the McDonald's USA brand, our largest global market.
A key aspect of this role will be to help the US business maximize the value of our internal and external data/solutions in measurement, strategic decision-making, driving incremental customer behavior, and optimizing our acquisition efforts. Responsibilities will include overseeing the marketing science workstreams for our paid media channels and ad-tech solutions. You will work closely with internal teams (e.g., Global Technology, Paid Media, Marketing, CRM, Loyalty, Finance, and others) and external stakeholders (e.g., Agency partners, data providers, etc.) to achieve success.
Our digital business has grown rapidly in the past few years, and we have aggressive plans to accelerate this growth to deliver on our customer's expectations for years to come. With the exciting launch of our Loyalty program two years ago and the heightened focus the business has given to our digital channels like the McDonald's mobile app, this Manager will work very closely with our internal marketing teams to help accelerate our digital growth from paid media.
We are looking for a specialist that is Digital at their core and has experience understanding and developing insights into how loyalty, CRM, and digital promotion work in tandem with our paid media efforts to drive QSR/retail and our business specifically. This person will be critical to helping our marketing teams and agencies understand what metrics matter for our business and owner-operator's success and will lead activities determining what levers we can/should be pulling in our paid channels and ad-tech stacks.
Primary Responsibilities
- Contribute to developing a long-term paid media vision as Paid Media team's primary data science resource, driving program measurement, ad-tech solutions, and analytics framework for the US, in collaboration with the rest of the Strategic Insights COE and cross-functional leadership.
- Manage and execute against critical deliverables in a deadline-driven environment.
- Manage relationships with external advanced analytics and data science agencies, including managing external deliverables and setting priorities.
- Leverage basic statistical concepts (linear regression, logistic regression, decision trees, etc.) to understand the impact of various behavioral variables on sales and other key KPIs that we use to measure the success of our investments.
- Create and present analytics findings/insight to marketing and functional leadership. Storytelling is essential for this role to ensure insight is understood and leveraged broadly across the key stakeholders.
- Provide leadership and technical expertise/consulting to enable detailed, data-driven recommendations and insight to US Marketing and Owner Operator leadership senior members.
- Develop and manage sophisticated methods of analyzing our customer data, including creating proper hypotheses and measurement strategies across our Paid channels to gain a deep understanding of our growth drivers.
- Liaise with Global Technology to ensure supporting infrastructure is set up for success.
- Collaborate with global market Analytics & Insights leads to share methodologies and expertise.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Economics, Math, Computer Science, or similar
- Master's degree preferred
- 3-5+ years of related work experience and results-oriented performance
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills - both formal and informal
- Experience with digital ad effectiveness research or multi-touch attribution preferred
- Familiarity with marketing technologies (i.e., Cleanrooms, Identity Resolutions, CDPs), ad-serving, and media verification services
- Understanding of media purchasing and optimizations
- Experience explaining complex concepts to a non-technical audience
- Detailed understanding of the digital landscape, with a preference towards Retail and QSR
- Previous corporate or consulting/agency experience managing sophisticated analytical projects in large cross-functional organizations such as retail, restaurant or food service, CPG, financial services, etc.
- Previous experience with complex CRM and Loyalty programs, including the analyses and data that drive success.
- Hands-on experience with analytical techniques like regression (multivariate, logistic, etc.), customer modeling (segmentation, CLV, propensity modeling), forecasting (demand, sales), baselining, etc.
- Knowledge and expertise working with relational databases and large datasets. We have a multi-cloud architecture at McDonald's, so experience with both AWS and GCP environments is a plus
- Ability to independently own and drive multiple work streams, often balancing competing and changing priorities
- Strong academic qualifications, including advanced understanding/coursework in Math, Statistics, Business, Technology, or related field
- Proficiency in one or more statistical programming languages (R, Python, SAS) and in creating complex queries in SQL
- Proficient in Tableau or other data visualization tools
- Proficient in PowerPoint / Excel
