The Position:
The Public Relations and Social Media Manager is responsible for developing and implementing effective public relations strategies and managing our presence on various social media platforms. They will play a crucial role in enhancing our brand image, engaging with our target audiences, including patients, supporters, donors, local politicians, and community leaders. The successful candidate will have a background in public relations, excellent communication skills, and a thorough understanding of social media platforms and trends.
Main Responsibilities:
- Oversee social media campaigns, including research, campaign and content creation, execution, monitoring, and reporting.
- Create/identify public relations opportunities including establishing and maintaining media lists, pitching stories to the media, writing press releases.
- Maintain The Hospital's reputation.
- Work with VP/communications & marketing, VP/foundation and other team members on creating a social media strategy to increase awareness and engagement.
- Create timely and engaging content optimized for platform (Instagram, TikTok, etc.) and audience. Collaborate with senior designer and copywriter as necessary.
- Monitor platforms and respond to messages as necessary.
- Manage social media profiles of key executive staff.
- Analyze and report social media actions monthly.
- Collaborate with senior designer and copywriter on cross media campaigns and communications that can involve social media, web, and print content.
- Work with fundraising team to maximize exposure and increase participation in key fundraising events and campaigns.
- Stay up to date on trends and new technology and techniques.
- Plan, develop and execute a media communication strategy that keeps media outlets, local politicians and community leaders, donors and supporters and the community at large informed and engaged.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with media outlets, journalists and community leaders/voices.
- Prepare and distribute press releases, media kit and other related communication materials, working with staff as necessary.
- Manage media inquiries and interviews.
- Maintain press and media pages on our website.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's Degree with 3-5 years of public relations agency, marketing, or other public relations experience preferred.
- Prior experience working with and managing a variety of media forms, including but not limited to print, electronic, photographic, and social media.
- Effective written and oral communication with all levels of staff and management.
- Must be mission driven, empathetic, and compassionate toward others.
